Royal Anderson Project

Year 5/6 in Royal Class

Since September , Year 5/6 have been immersed in a cross curricular WW2 project.  Our recent Science and Design Technology learning has been linked.

The children's brief was to research both the interiors, exterior, plan, resource, design and then build a replica Anderson Shelter.

The children  were also challenged to incorporate detail on the theme of Dig For Victory-many made allotments on top of their curved shelter structure to illustrate the war time push to grow your own  vegetables as well be self sufficient during the rationing years.

The cross curricular science link provided the children with the experience of experimenting with parallel and series circuits, their mission here was to light up and provide their Anderson Shelter with a warning siren.

Royal Class worked wonderfully in small teams to produce these amazing models.
