Year 2 trip to Canterbury Cathedral
On Wednesday, year 2 went on a trip to Canterbury Cathedral as part of our sacred spaces topic in RE. The children had a fantastic time and were able to explore lots of different activities. The children were split into 3 groups to complete a selection of activities including stained glass window decorating, using quills to make certificates, mark making in stone using a chisel and puzzle building.
The children also had a guided tour of Canterbury Cathedral where they had the opportunity to ask lots of questions. The tour guides told us stories using the stained glass windows and explained why the Cathedral is a special place to Christians. Some children were lucky enough to meet the Reverend who was leading the service in the Cathedral that day.
During our free time we explored the Cathedral grounds and looked at the huge horse sculpture made by students at Canterbury College which commemorated the World War. Overall it was a really good day and the children had an excellent time!
