Learning about animals
Palace Class have had a lovely first term at school. We have been learning all about animals this term and the children have loved reading different books about animals, some of our favourites have been the tiger who came to tea, elmer and the hungry caterpillar. We have explored these books in class by printing patterns, racing caterpillars, building dens and pens for animals, making playdough animals, counting, measuring and weighing animals too. The children have been really busy! To finish off this first topic, the children went to Wingham Wildlife Park to meet some animals. They were very excited to meet the tiger who came to tea and were excitedly calling out ‘Thank you for our cupcakes’ after the tiger kindly had sent them some during snack time earlier that week. The highlight of the day was, not only the play park and the gift shop but the amazing animal encounter led by the staff of the Wildlife Park. The children met a snake, a bearded dragon and a tarantula. They learned all about these exciting animals, guess what it would feel like to hold them and when it was their turn, some of the children were even braver than the adults, especially when it came to holding Rosie the tarantula!
We have had a brilliant first term and the children have done fantastically as they have settled into school life. We hope they have a lovely half term week!
