First Week at School

First week at school

What a great first week!

The children of Palace Class have had a brilliant first week at school.  They have been very busy getting to know their new classmates, teachers and school.  They have spent lots of time settling in to their key groups and getting to know the daily routines of school as well as having lots of fun.

This week we have been reading “We’re going on a bear hunt” and the children have been busy making teddy bear toast, story-telling masks, bear caves and decorating bear biscuits.  They have used playdough, instruments and paints to create scenes from the story and have enjoyed learning about repeating patterns.

The highlight of the week has to be visiting to woods to go on a real bear hunt of our own!  The children repeated parts of the story as we walked through swishy-swashy grass and stumbled through the woods.  Bears were hiding around corners and up trees, we even wondered if we had seen one running off towards school!

The children have settled in really well and we are looking forward to seeing them again on Monday.  We would also like to say big thank you to all our parents and carers-for your support and encouragement. This has been central to helping your children settle in and enjoy themselves at school.
