Update: Year Two Term Four 2025

Year Two have just complete another busy term of learning. It has now finally brightened up and the children are able to get outside in the warmer weather. Let’s have a look at what they have been up to this term:

Term Four began with the topic ‘Movers and Shakers’. The children have learned all about significant people from the past and their contributions to their respective fields. From explorers, to civil rights protesters, the children have explored what it means to leave a lasting impression on the world.

In English this term, the children have learnt about autobiographies and newspaper reports. They read and dissected some biographies of famous people, including Sir David Attenborough, and then used the features they had learned about to write their own autobiographies about their lives so far. After exploring the features of exciting newspaper reports, the children had a go at writing their own about Neil Armstrong and the Moon Landing!

In science, the children have been investigating human survival. They began by looking at the human life cycle and the various stages that we go through as we grow and mature. The children thought carefully about the things humans need to survive, including the kinds of foods we need to eat and the things that we can do to keep our bodies healthy.

In DT, the children were very excited to turn their hand to sewing! Inspired by Cath Kidston, the children researched textiles and patterns as well as types of stitching used in the manufacture of clothing and other accessories. After lots of practice threading needles, the children used all they had learned to create their own embroidered bag tag using a range of colourful, patterned materials.

This term, the children were lucky enough to have a visit from the fantastic OneDay Creative team who delivered an engaging ‘Florence Nightingale’ themed history workshop. The children were immersed in the past, as they followed the Lady with the Lamp back in time to explore how she played such an influential role in the world of nursing, hospitals and hygiene.

Overall, it’s been another brilliant term for Year Two, full of learning, creativity, and memorable experiences. The children have worked incredibly hard and have enjoyed every moment. We are all looking forward to Term Five and the ‘Let’s Explore the World’ topic.
