Term 4 blog news

During term 4, our topic was Once Upon a Time…

The children have had another wonderful term in Palace class where we have read the following traditional tales:

Little Red Riding Hood

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Three Little Pigs

The Gingerbread Man

Throughout the term, the children have had some wonderful learning opportunities. They took part in an experiment to see what liquids the Gingerbread man would be safe in. They tested vinegar, oil, water and milk and found out that the Gingerbread man does not sink or break up in oil! For our school trip, the children visited Dover Castle. They enjoyed exploring the castle and the grounds and learning all about Kings and Queens from the past. In class to follow our trip, the children had a King and Queen Day where they learnt about who the King is now and why he is important.

The children also learnt the nursery rhyme, Humpty Dumpty. They were shocked to find a crime scene – who had pushed Humpty Dumpty off the wall? The children had great fun playing detective and trying to work out who it was (poor Mrs Hopkins got blamed a lot!). They took fingerprints and used magnifying glasses to search for clues.

In our final week of term, the children learnt all about the story of Easter. They discussed why Easter is important to Christians, discussed how they celebrate Easter and loved taking part in the whole school Easter hat parade.

We are very proud of how well the children are doing and cannot believe the progress they have made so far! We cannot wait to see what term 5 has in store…
