Year 4 – Term 2 Blog: A Spark of Learning!
Term 2 has been an exciting, science-heavy term for Year 4, filled with hands-on experiments, creative writing and plenty of festive celebrations. From electricity and the digestive system to poetry, jam-making and Christmas outings, the children have enjoyed a wonderful variety of learning experiences.
Lighting Up Our Learning: Electricity
Year 4 began the term by exploring electricity. The children built complete circuits, tested switches and discovered which materials are conductors or insulators. They loved solving practical challenges and watching their bulbs light up—science in action!
Journey Through the Body: The Digestive System
Our second major topic was the digestive system. With models, diagrams and an unforgettable hands-on demonstration, the children investigated how food travels through the body. They asked thoughtful questions and enjoyed understanding how each organ works together to keep us healthy.
Delicious Designs: DT Jam Making
In DT, the children followed the full process of designing, making and evaluating their own jam. They selected fruits, prepared ingredients and cooked up delicious mixtures before packaging them beautifully. It was a wonderfully tasty project!
Festive Highlights
One of the term’s most exciting outings was our Christmas trip to the pantomime. The children laughed, joined in with the classic “He’s behind you!” moments, and enjoyed the lively performance. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the season together.
Our Christmas concert brought the whole school community together. Year 4 sang beautifully, performed with confidence, and helped spread festive joy to all who came to watch.
Year 4 also delivered a brilliant class assembly, sharing highlights of their learning from this term. From science experiments to poetry readings, the children presented with enthusiasm and pride.
A Fantastic Term!
Year 4 have demonstrated curiosity, creativity and teamwork throughout Term 2. With science discoveries, writing projects, festive celebrations and memorable trips, it has been a rich and rewarding term. We can’t wait to see what next term brings!
