Term 3 News

Year 6, Term 3 Blog
What a great term it has been for Year 6! Term 3 has been a fantastic mix of discovery, creativity, and lively discussion.
In History, we have dived into “A Child’s War,” exploring ancient civilisations, the rise and fall of empires, and even getting a glimpse of British history beyond 1066. The children worked hard to create their own narratives and analyses, bringing historical events to life in our classroom. In our Geography lessons, we sharpened our map-reading skills by using compasses and grid references, to explore the UK and the wider world.
In RE, we tackled some big questions, discussing what it means to be a Muslim in Britain today and exploring the values that matter most to Christians and Humanists. These thought-provoking lessons really encouraged the children to reflect on their own ideas and beliefs.
English was buzzing with energy during our Talk 4 Writing – Big Write sessions, where the children shared their ideas and stories. Our guided reading of books like Goodnight Mr Tom kept them engaged and sparked lively discussions about the themes and characters.
We also got our bodies moving in a new way this term with Dance. The dance sessions were full of fun and creativity, as the children learned new moves, explored rhythm and coordination, and even worked together to perform routines including a range of lifts.
And finally, in Spanish, we had a great time talking about ourselves and our families, learning to describe where we live and share personal details in a new language.
A huge thank you to all the parents for your ongoing support throughout Term 3 – it truly makes a difference. We’re so proud of everything the children have achieved and can’t wait to see what the next term brings!
