Year 6: The Grand Finale!
Well, what a term it’s been! We’re not quite sure where the time has gone, but one thing’s for sure – Year 6 have absolutely packed it full of memories.
A real highlight this term was our epic SATs celebration day, and what a way to mark the end of all that hard work! The children enjoyed a silent disco (though let’s be honest, it wasn’t exactly silent…), took part in a competitive Nerf gun battle, tackled Crystal Maze style team challenges, threw themselves into Olympathon activities, and finished the day off with some well-earned ice lollies. We couldn’t have been prouder of how they handled the build-up to SATs, so it felt only right to give them a day full of fun.
Then came the play... and wow, did they rise to the occasion! After weeks of rehearsals, line-learning, prop-lugging, and spontaneous singing in the corridor, they performed a full show on a real theatre stage. They even pulled off a brilliant dress rehearsal to the whole school, nerves of steel and stars in the making!
Our topic this term was Blood Heart and yes, the children really did dissect an actual heart. There were lots of squeals, and the odd “ewww!”, but plenty of curiosity and impressive scientific thinking as they explored how the heart works and why it’s such an important part of our bodies.
We wrapped everything up with the Year 6 Leavers’ Disco, a final chance for dancing, celebrating, and soaking up their last days at primary school.
It’s always a bittersweet time saying goodbye to Year 6. We’ve watched them grow into kind, resilient, and curious young people who are more than ready for the next chapter. Secondary school, they’re coming for you and they’re brilliant.
We’ll miss them (even the loud ones), but we know they’ve got bright futures ahead. Good luck, Year 6- you’ve been awesome.
