Term 5 News

What a fantastic Term 5 we’ve had in Year 6!
This term, our geography lessons took us on a global adventure. We explored Earth’s physical features, navigated lines of latitude and longitude, and even dived into time zones. Through hands-on map work and data analysis, the children began to grasp the big picture of climate change, human settlement patterns, and global trade.
In PE, our focus was athletics. It was wonderful to see teams cheering each other on and showing great sportsmanship during sports day.
During maths, we explored advanced fractions, decimals and percentages, before moving on to geometry, statistics and even some early algebraic reasoning. The resilience and confidence the children demonstrated was amazing.
I’m delighted to share that they’ve now successfully sat their SATs papers. We’re incredibly proud of how calmly and confidently they approached each exam!
Our main topic, “Our Changing World” inspired brilliant discussions and creative writing.
In art and design, we turned environmental issues into powerful artwork. The children experimented with mixed media, collaborating on pieces that carry strong messages about our natural and urban landscapes, each one unique and thought-provoking.
RE brought us to an important question: “What can be done to reduce racism, and can religion help?” Through respectful discussions and reflection on different faiths’ teachings, we explored how empathy, tolerance and equality start in our own community.
We’re so proud of how the Year 6 children have grown this term, both academically and personally. As we look ahead to Term 6, we know it’s going to be another memorable chapter in the children’s Year 6 journey!
