Year 4 Term 5

This term, our topic has been Sound and Potions, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed all the exciting learning opportunities. In Science, we explored how sounds are made and travelled, learning lots about the different parts of the ear and how we hear sounds. The children enjoyed carrying out investigations to discover how vibrations create sound and how pitch and volume can change.

In our Potions learning, we focused on states of matter. The children explored solids, liquids and gases through a range of fun experiments and investigations. They loved observing changes in materials and discussing how different substances can transform.

In English, the children have worked incredibly hard on their writing. Some children created adventurous and imaginative stories full of exciting vocabulary and dramatic twists, while others wrote clear and creative instructions for making magical potions. We were very impressed with the children’s creativity and enthusiasm.

In PE, Kensington Class have been developing their tennis skills, practising their control, rallying and teamwork. Regents Class have been building confidence and improving their swimming skills in the pool. Both classes showed excellent determination and sportsmanship throughout the term.

We ended the term with a marvellous Sports Day, where all the children demonstrated fantastic teamwork, resilience and encouragement for one another. It was wonderful to see everyone taking part with such enthusiasm and positivity.

Well done, Year 4, for all of your hard work this term — we are very proud of you!
