Year 6 Term 5 Blog

Year 6 have had a very busy and exciting Term 5! Alongside working incredibly hard during SATs week, the children have continued to show determination, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning across all subjects.

Our topic this term, Our Changing World, has encouraged the children to think carefully about how the world around us is evolving. In English, we explored a range of fiction and non-fiction texts linked to environmental and social change. The children produced some thoughtful writing and enjoyed discussing important world issues.

In Geography, we developed our understanding of maps, climate change, time zones, human settlement and global trade. The children asked some fantastic questions and showed great curiosity during lessons and discussions.

Maths lessons focused on preparing for SATs, with the children revisiting key areas such as fractions, decimals, percentages, geometry and reasoning. We were extremely proud of the effort and maturity shown by the children throughout the SATs period.

In Art and Design, the children explored environmental art and created pieces inspired by current world issues. Their creativity and imagination really shone through in their final work.

PE lessons focused on athletics, where the children practised a range of skills including sprinting, jumping and throwing. It has been lovely to see their teamwork, encouragement and sportsmanship continue to grow.

In RE, the children discussed important questions about the world around us, including how people can make a positive difference within their communities. They approached these conversations with maturity and respect.

We are incredibly proud of all the hard work Year 6 have put in this term and look forward to an exciting final term together.
