🌟 Year 5 Term 4 Blog 🌟

This term has been full of exciting learning, creativity, and hands-on experiences for our Year 5 class! Here’s a look at everything we’ve been up to.

🏺 Ancient Greeks Topic

Our main topic this term has been the Ancient Greeks. We explored their fascinating way of life, including their gods and goddesses, democracy, and daily routines. We learned about famous myths and discovered how the Ancient Greeks have influenced the modern world.

🥙 Trying Greek Food

To bring our topic to life, we had the opportunity to taste Greek food. Many of us tried new flavours such as olives, feta cheese, flatbreads, and tzatziki. It was a fantastic experience, and lots of children were surprised by how much they enjoyed it!

✍️ Writing Myths

Inspired by our topic, we became authors and wrote our own Greek myths. We included heroes, mythical creatures, and even created our own gods and goddesses. The stories were full of imagination, adventure, and some very dramatic twists!

🏗️ Experimenting with Structures

In Design and Technology, we explored how to build strong structures. We experimented with different materials and shapes to see which designs were the most stable. The children showed great teamwork and problem-solving skills while building and testing their creations.

📚 World Book Day

We had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day! Everyone came dressed as their favourite book characters, and we shared stories together. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for reading and storytelling across the class.

🎩 Easter Hat Parade

To finish the term, we took part in our colourful Easter Hat Parade. The children designed and made their own creative hats at home, and we proudly showed them off around the Linces! There were so many imaginative designs—it was a joyful way to celebrate the end of term!
