Year 5 Term 3: Chinese Dynasty and Space

What an exciting and inspiring Term 3 we have had in Year 5!

The Chinese Dynasty

At the beginning of the term, we travelled back in time to learn about the Chinese Dynasty. The children explored ancient traditions, powerful emperors and fascinating inventions that are still important today, such as paper, printing and the compass.

Year 5 showed great curiosity, asked thoughtful questions and impressed us with their historical knowledge.

Out of This World – Our Space Topic

In the second half of the term, we launched into our Space topic — and it truly was out of this world!

A real highlight was our visit from the WonderDome. Stepping inside and being surrounded by stars, planets and galaxies was an unforgettable experience. The children were amazed as they explored the solar system and learned more about the vast universe beyond Earth.

Breath-taking Space Art

In art, the children recreated space using chalk techniques, experimenting with blending and shading to create stunning galaxy scenes. Their final pieces are absolutely breath-taking! The vibrant colours and careful detail really capture the beauty and mystery of space. We are incredibly proud of their creativity and effort.

Ending on a High – Friendship Disco

We ended the term with lots of smiles and energy at our Friendship Disco! The children had a fantastic time dancing, laughing and celebrating together. It was a wonderful way to finish a busy term and celebrate the friendships that make Year 5 so special.

Year 5 have worked incredibly hard this term and continue to grow in confidence and independence. We are so proud of everything they have achieved and are looking forward to another exciting term ahead!
