Year 6 Brompton Boys, Forest School (Term 1)
In our first session we discussed as a group what we would like to create in the woods to leave behind for other year groups to use in the future – something that would be our legacy. We decided upon musical instruments. Safely using a bow saw, a hand drill and our own measurements using sticks and chalk, we successfully made a xylophone/wind chime.
However, that wasn’t all we did in our weeks outside: we noticed changes due to the seasons (growth of fungi, changing leaf colour and falling of seeds), we climbed trees, we became warring warriors and authors of a Declaration of Peace, we picked blackberries, peeled carrots, built habitats, had conker fights and learnt about fire safety. We filled our time with lots of free play and learnt about the importance of teamwork, friendship and respecting each other.
