Year 6 5km Sponsored Run – To raise money for higher level reading books
Within year 6 we wanted to be able to raise money to be able to buy higher level reading books that were appropriate for our age and ability. We decided that we would run 5km to raise the money, which worked out to be 9 laps around our entire field – you know how difficult that is if you know the size of our field! When we were completing our 5km run, students and staff of year 6 all took part, some people wanted to do extra laps because they were fast and wanted to keep going and others stopped after 9 laps – this was still 5km though! At the end of our run, we decided we would roll down the last bit of the hill to celebrate our achievements – this was great fun! After our run, everyone was very tired, but, lucky for us it was the end of the day so we didn’t need to concentrate for much longer. At the end of our run, we took a year group picture together to celebrate how hard we had all worked. In total we raised £572 for new reading books which is incredible! Thank you to everyone that supported us with our 5km run, it was hard work, but definitely worth it! We can’t wait to purchase some new books and get reading!
